2024 GMC Canyon AT4X AEV Edition Unique Features & Design

While the automotive industry has made a monumental shift from cars being king to almost being completely replaced by crossovers and other SUVs, pickup trucks have continued to quietly be the most popular vehicles on American roads. Emerging within that space over the past few years has been the midsize truck segment, as customer interest in smaller trucks continues to rise. That’s a big reason why the GMC Canyon has become so popular, and why for 2024 engineers have made a pretty exciting enhancement despite having just entered a new generation in 2023. That’s right, the 2024 GMC Canyon will be receiving an AT4X AEV Edition package with unique features and design cues, which we’ll highlight today.

As with every special edition trim level or add-on package that General Motors creates, the AT4X AEV Edition is packed full of unique design cues and added off-road features. We thought we’d list all of the highlights so that you know exactly what you’d be getting by opting for this version of the 2024 GMC Canyon.

• AEV branding throughout vehicle exterior & interior; including bumpers, headrest embroidery, all-weather floor mats
• Exclusive AEV beadlock-capable Salta wheels
• Three auxiliary control switches; enabling integration of aftermarket accessories
• Five ultra-high strength, hot-stamped boron steel skid plates; including placement over the radiator, steering gear, transmission, transfer case, fuel tank, rear differential
• AEV stamped-steel front and rear bumpers; including heavy-duty recovery points, winch capabilities
• 4.5” factory lift kit

• Larger fender flares

Thanks to these added features and adjustments, some of the specifications of the Canyon have been enhanced in the AT4X AEV Edition.

The addition of the AT4X AEV Edition might have been the biggest and most exciting change for the 2024 model year, but it wasn’t the only improvement made this year. In addition, Baja Drive Mode has been enhanced for the 2024 model year. This feature, which is only available on AT4X and AT4X AEV Edition models, now includes a smart launch control feature that’s capable of learning the surface that you’re driving on and dynamically adjusting engine speed and torque accordingly on future launches. The feature enables drivers to apply pressure to both the acceleration and brake pedals simultaneously before releasing the brake pedal for an improved launch sequence.

One more new feature available in the whole 2024 Canyon lineup is that owners will be able to update their vehicle’s software and even add new digital features over the air thanks to the new Utilifi Platform.
